How to block adult content on Hulu and Disney+.
Written October 2026 from Hulu and Disney+’s own help pages. Menus change often.
Disney+ and Hulu are still two services, two apps and two subscriptions, joined by one MyDisney login. Hulu content also shows up inside the Disney+ app, under a Hulu tab, for people who have both. That makes it easy to assume they share their controls. They do not, and Hulu, where much of the TV-MA is, is the one with no maturity cap for an adult profile.
This page does two things. First, what Bramble does about it. Then every control the two services give an adult: what each one changes, what it does not, and what decides whether it holds.
What Bramble does about Hulu and Disney+
Bramble is a free adult content blocker for iPhone. It works on the phone you are holding, which is where Hulu and Disney+ is easiest to open at one in the morning.
- Apps you name stay shut. Name Hulu and Disney+ in the app shield, and the shield holds it.
- Someone else can hold the key. With Keyholder mode, a person you trust keeps your Screen Time passcode, so a limit you set at noon cannot be undone at one in the morning.
What Bramble cannot do is reach your TV. It is an iPhone app, and a TV is another screen. For the TV, the settings below are what you have, and the last section is how to make them hold.
It is free, forever, and no one gets a list of what you looked at — not your witnesses, not your Keyholder, not us. The blocking page has the full account.

The rest of this page is Hulu and Disney+’s own settings. They work without Bramble, and they are worth doing. Where one can be undone from the same screen it was set on, the page says so.
What Hulu and Disney+ do not offer an adult.
- Hulu has no maturity cap for an adult profile. Its only controls are a Kids profile, which limits a profile to the Kids hub, and a PIN that gates switching profiles.
- Disney+ can cap the content rating, and the cap applies to what you browse and search. It does not cover promotions, and it does not reach the separate Hulu app.
- Disney warns that live content and live ads can feature adult themes.
- We found no watch limit on either service.
If you are setting this up for a child rather than for yourself, the Kids profiles on both services are built for that. This page is written for an adult doing it for himself.
Disney+: cap the content rating
- In the Disney+ app or a web browser, open your profile and choose EDIT PROFILES, then your profile.
- Tap PARENTAL CONTROLS, then Content rating. Enter your password.
- Choose TV-14 and save.
- Turn off Allow titles without ratings like live sports, news, and more. Turning it back on needs your password.
An adult profile starts at TV-MA, and Disney says it can be changed at any time. Titles above the cap are not shown while you browse or search, and Hulu titles inside the Disney+ app follow it. It does not cover Disney+’s own promotions. TV-14 itself still means some material many parents would find unsuitable, in Disney’s words.
You can only change this in a web browser or the mobile app. The TV app cannot, so a TV obeys the cap and cannot undo it.
Disney+: a profile PIN, and no new profiles
- In EDIT PROFILES, pick your profile, tap PARENTAL CONTROLS, then Profile PIN. Enter your password and set a four-digit PIN.
- Then go to your profile, Account, SETTINGS, and turn on Restrict profile creation. Enter your password.
The PIN stops anyone opening that profile. It hides no titles. Restricting profile creation means a new, unrestricted profile cannot be made without the password.
Hulu: the PIN, and what it cannot do
- On Hulu.com or in a mobile web browser, click your profile icon, then Manage Profiles, then Parental Controls.
- Turn on PIN Protection, tap Manage PIN, enter your password, and Save Changes.
Hulu then asks for the four-digit PIN when you switch to any profile that is not a Kids profile, or before you create a new one. It blocks entry, not content: nothing inside the profile is hidden. Hulu says it needs the latest version of its app, so some devices may not enforce it, and profile edits are not possible on Apple TV.
A Hulu Kids profile is far narrower than TV-14, and it is built for children. It is not a way for an adult to watch.
Turn off autoplay
- Hulu on the web: open the Settings menu during playback. On a phone or a TV, look under Account Settings.
- Disney+: on EDIT PROFILES, switch off Autoplay and Background Video, the preview that plays behind a title.
The one that holds
Disney+ asks for the account password to change the content rating, the PIN or profile creation, and Hulu asks for it to change its PIN. The password is not the lock, though. A Disney+ password reset needs only a one-time code sent to the MyDisney email, and a forgotten PIN is reset the same way.
The lock is the MyDisney email. One email and one password cover Hulu, Disney+ and ESPN, and changing either on one service changes it on all of them. If someone you trust owns that email and you cannot read it, you cannot reset the password or the PIN. For Hulu that protects little, because Hulu has no cap to protect. Its only hard stop is a Kids profile with a PIN.
So on Hulu the strongest option is the one on the phone.
On your phone. A limit set in your iPhone’s own Screen Time belongs to the phone, and it can be put behind a passcode you do not know.
- Open the iPhone’s Settings, then Screen Time. If it is off, turn it on.
- Tap App Limits, then Add Limit.
- Find Hulu and Disney+ in the list and tick both. The list has a search box at the top. Then, at the bottom of the list under Websites, tap Add Website and add hulu.com and disneyplus.com. Without that, a limit on the app does not cover it in Safari.
- Tap Next, set the time, and turn on Block at End of Limit.
- Back on the Screen Time page, tap Lock Screen Time Settings and set a passcode that someone you trust chooses and keeps. Without it, you can extend your own limit with one tap.
That last step is what Bramble’s Keyholder mode is for. The keyholder walk-through takes the person you ask through setting it on your phone, one screen at a time.
If it is still there afterward
Settings change what the screen offers. They do not change what you are reaching for. When a man has cleaned up his settings and still goes looking, it is usually because something else is being eased, and porn is only the fastest thing he found for it. That is not a verdict on you.
The ten questions are one honest place to look at it. Why can’t I stop watching porn is the longer version.
