Bramble vs Fortify

These two are less alike than their names in a search suggest. Fortify is a recovery program: guided lessons it calls journeys, daily check-ins, an AI coach, a community, and therapy by video. Nothing on its site or its App Store listing describes blocking anything. Bramble is first a blocker, free, with the recovery work alongside it.

So this is less a choice between them than a question of what you are missing. Every Fortify fact below comes from its own site or store listings, read on October 4, 2026.

  Bramble Fortify
Price Free, for good. No paid tier and no ads. A free Basic tier. Premium is $12 a month. A year is $89.99 in the App Store and $120 on its website; “Forever Access” is $199.99 in the App Store.
Blocks adult content Yes. Four layers on the phone: a DNS proxy, a URL content filter, an app shield and an image check in Safari. It does not describe any blocking. Its own listing calls it “more than just a band-aid or a filter.”
Devices iPhone, Chrome (also Edge, Brave and ChromeOS) and Mac. iPhone and iPad, Android, and the web.
Therapy Not offered. Video therapy, about $120 a session if you pay directly; often paid by employers.
What someone else sees Your witnesses see only what you choose to share. A Keyholder is told when protection comes down. Allies see your tracker analytics, streaks, and progress and setbacks on a timeline and calendar, and get SOS alerts.
Day counting None, by design. It tracks “Victory and Setback days,” and allies can congratulate streaks.
Faith Christ-centered, informed by Patrick Carnes. No faith framing in its main copy. A page for missionaries says faith can support you.
Who runs it Bramble, built by Luke. Impact Collective, LLC, in Logan, Utah. It began with Fight the New Drug and still works with it.

Fortify’s column was read on its own pages on October 4, 2026. Its website and App Store list different annual prices, and both are given. If something has moved, tell me at hello@getbramble.app and I will fix it the same day.

What Fortify does well

It is a real program, built over more than a decade. Its daily check-in surveys were adapted, it says, from established clinical measures by a team of researchers, and it gives you insights from your own answers. It offers therapy by video with licensed clinicians, which Bramble does not, and lifestyle coaching. Its free Basic tier includes a journey, limited AI coaching and an ally, and teenagers can apply for free access. If what a man needs right now is structure and a trained person to talk to, Fortify offers both.

A program, not a blocker

Fortify’s App Store description calls it “more than just a band-aid or a filter,” and nothing on its site or listing describes blocking at all. That is a choice, not a gap: it is built for what happens inside a man, not for what reaches his screen. It also means a man using only Fortify still has the whole internet in his pocket at one in the morning.

Bramble starts with that hour. Adult sites do not load, the apps you name stay shut, and a picture that would pull you is softened in Safari before it reaches you. The recovery work sits alongside it rather than instead of it. If you want a program as well, the two do not compete: Fortify does not block, and Bramble does not offer therapy.

Counting days

Fortify tracks “Victory and Setback days,” and its allies page invites them to congratulate streaks. Plenty of men find that motivating. Bramble does not count days, on purpose: when a count is the measure, one bad night can feel like losing everything, and that feeling is one of the strongest pulls back. What a day count can and cannot measure is the longer version.

What leaves your phone

Fortify’s FAQ says your data is not shared with other organisations. Its Google Play listing discloses sharing device and user IDs for advertising or marketing, and says the app contains ads. Its App Store label lists health and sensitive information among the data linked to you. Both are Fortify’s own statements, and they are worth reading side by side.

Bramble has no ads and no advertising SDK, and your browsing history never leaves the phone unhashed. No one gets a list of what you looked at, not your witnesses, not your Keyholder, not us.

Which one fits

If something standing between you and it, free and on your phone, is what you were missing, you can stop comparing here.
