Bramble vs Ever Accountable
Ever Accountable starts from reporting. Out of the box, nothing is blocked, and a partner you choose gets a weekly report that includes all of your website activity, with screenshots. Bramble starts from the other end. It blocks on your phone, and no one is sent a list or a picture of what you looked at.
Ever Accountable runs on six kinds of device and Bramble on three. One is $129 a year and the other is free. Every Ever Accountable fact below comes from its own site, support centre or store listings, read on October 4, 2026.
| Bramble | Ever Accountable | |
|---|---|---|
| Price | Free, for good. No paid tier and no ads. | $14.99 a month or $129 a year on its website, after a 14-day free trial. One person, unlimited devices and partners. |
| Devices | iPhone, Chrome (also Edge, Brave and ChromeOS) and Mac. | iPhone and iPad, Android, Windows, Mac, Chromebook and Kindle Fire. |
| Out of the box | Blocks. | Reports. Its own words: “Nothing is blocked (unless you turn on optional filtering).” Filtering is available on iPhone, Android and Mac. |
| What someone else sees | Your witnesses see only what you choose to share. A Keyholder is told when protection comes down. No one is told what you looked at. | A weekly email with all website activity by default, screenshots it flags, and time in each app. A Privacy Mode narrows it to flagged activity. |
| On an iPhone | Four layers: a DNS proxy, a URL content filter, an app shield and an image check in Safari. | A Safari extension, Screen Time app locks, and a screen broadcast that takes random screenshots inside apps. The broadcast has to be restarted after the phone restarts. |
| If you delete it | In Keyholder mode on an iPhone, deleting it needs the Screen Time passcode someone else holds. | Your partner is alerted. |
| Where your activity goes | Your browsing history never leaves the phone unhashed. | To its servers, on Amazon Web Services, to build reports. It holds ISO 27001 and 27701 certification. |
| Faith | Christ-centered, informed by Patrick Carnes. | Not described as a Christian company. Its about page gives thanks to God. |

What Ever Accountable does well
It covers more devices than almost anyone: iPhone, Android, Windows, Mac, Chromebook and even a Kindle Fire. One plan covers every device a man owns and as many partners as he wants to add, and partners never pay. On an iPhone it uses no VPN, and its AI checks for sensitive content on the device. It holds ISO 27001 and 27701 security certifications, which is more than most apps in this category can show. If the thing you need is a report a trusted person can read every week, across every screen you own, it is built for exactly that.
Report first, or block first
This is the real difference, and it is a difference in belief, not features. Ever Accountable’s plans page puts it plainly: nothing is blocked unless you turn on optional filtering. The working part is the report. By default, your partner’s weekly email includes all of your website activity, flagged screens in yellow and red, and the time you spent in each app. There is a Privacy Mode that narrows the report to flagged activity and a few minutes either side.
Bramble blocks first. Adult sites do not load, the apps you name stay shut, and a picture that would pull you is softened in Safari before it reaches you. No one gets a list of what you looked at, not your witnesses, not your Keyholder, not us. Your witnesses see what you choose to tell them: that you are struggling, that you checked in, and good news. A Keyholder is told when protection comes down, never why.
On an iPhone
An iPhone does not let one app watch another, so Ever Accountable works around it. Safari is covered by an extension. Other apps are locked with Screen Time, and you unlock them by starting a screen broadcast that takes random screenshots while you use them. Its support centre says the broadcast has to be started again after the phone restarts, and apps that block screen capture, such as banking apps, are never shared.
Bramble does not take screenshots. It blocks on the phone, and its strongest lock is the same one Ever Accountable leans on: Screen Time, with the passcode held by someone you trust. That is Keyholder mode.
The difference in price
Ever Accountable is $14.99 a month or $129 a year on its website, after a 14-day trial. Bramble is free, and will stay free. Porn does not leave the internet the month a card expires.
Which one fits
- Choose Ever Accountable if you want a partner to read a full report every week, or you need Windows, Android, a Chromebook or a Kindle covered.
- Choose Bramble if you are on an iPhone, Chrome or a Mac, want the blocking on by default, and want accountability that is about what you say rather than what someone reads.
Either way, a blocker or a report only buys you time. What you do with the time is the work, and that part is free to read.
If blocking first, free, and nobody reading your history is what you were looking for, you can stop comparing here.
Frequently asked questions
Is Bramble an Ever Accountable alternative?
Yes, on iPhone, Chrome and Mac. Bramble blocks adult content by default and sends no one a list or a picture of what you looked at. Your witnesses see only what you choose to share, and a Keyholder is told when protection comes down. It is free, where Ever Accountable is $129 a year on its website.
Does Ever Accountable block adult content?
Only if you turn it on. Its plans page says nothing is blocked unless you turn on optional filtering, which is available on iPhone, Android and Mac but not on Windows, Chromebooks or Kindle. What it does by default is report your activity to a partner.
How much does Ever Accountable cost?
On its website, $14.99 a month or $129 a year, after a 14-day free trial. A plan covers one person with unlimited devices and partners, and partners do not pay. Prices inside the App Store are listed differently.
What does an Ever Accountable partner see?
By default, a weekly email that includes all website activity, flagged screenshots and time spent in each app, plus alerts if the app is removed or turned off. With its Privacy Mode on, the report is narrowed to flagged activity and a few minutes before and after.
